First leaked Sigma 12mm f/1.4 APS-C E-mount lens images!

Here are the first images of the new Sigma 12mm f/1.4 APS-C E-mount lens. It comes along a “bad” news. In very last minute Sigma postponed the announcement of this lens for unknown reasons. It should have been launched next week on June 17 along the new 17-40mm f/1.8 APS-C E-mount lens (which I leaked on this post).

I also have some pricing info about both lenses:

  • 17-40mm lens will cost 999 Euro and 1650 AUSD
  • 12mm f/1.4 will cost 1090 AUSD

Again, 17-40mm lens is coming on June 17 while at this point I don’t know if and when the 12mm lens will be announced…

Two Sigma APS-C lenses (including epic f/1.8 zoom) will be announced on June 17…four more FF lenses coming soon after!

Sigma continues to push forward with the release of new lenses, and today I have some exclusive, exciting news to share with you! On June 17, at the BildExpo event (register here) Sigma will announce new lenses:

I have to say that the 17-40mm f/1.8 is particularly exciting as it offers APS-C camera owners the light gathering ability and bokeh quality of an f/2.8 FF lens. Impressive! This lens will probably be optically better and more compact than the legendary 18-35mm f/1.8.

ONE MORE RUMOR:

Sigma is supposed to hold another product announcement event in August/September that will focus more on new full frame lenses. There are rumors of four new FF lenses, I don’t know if 1-2 of them will be unveiled or announced on June 17:

Rumors about three new Sigma E-mount lenses coming soon!

A couple of weeks ago I told you that a new Sigma 200mm f/2.0 FE lens will be announced soon. Another reliable source (thank you!) just told me that two more Sigma APS-C E-mount lenses will be announced soon. I am now double-checking the information on all these lenses and hope to be able to tell you soon what is coming. I haven’t received an exact date for the announcement yet, but before mid-June we should have the product presentation.

Sony and Sigma rumors recap:

  • Sony announcement on May 28 for the FX2 (33Mp, integrated tilting EVF just like on this GX9)
  • Sigma announcement before mid June with new 200mm f/2.0 FE and two new APS-C lenses
  • One more Sony announcement in June/July?

Sony FX2 with tiltable EVF to be announced on May 28

Finally Sony will announce the first E-mount camera of the year. And it’s going to be the new “Sony FX2“. This is a sort of Sony FX3 with integrated EVF (or if you prefer a Sony A7cII in FX style). The camera will be announced on May 28 and we should get one more camera after that announcement between June and August.

Sony FX2 specs:

  • 33MP sensor of the Sony A7IV and Sony A7cII
  • AI chip
  • integrated tilting EVF (resolution unclear yet).
  • The EVF is nothing like the LUMIX GX9. It’s big! Like the GFX100 one.
  • mechanical shutter
  • AI AF
  • 4k60 super 35
  • 32 bit float audio
  • Body is thicker than the FX3
  • cooled FX body (active ventilation)
  • same ports and storage of the FX3
  • Price around $3500
  • Announcement May 28

The camera is aimed especially at film students and content creators that need a Cine E-mount camera that can do it all. Unlike the FX3 you get a nice EVF and you get 32bit float audio support to be sure to never screw up your recordings.

Important: the Sony FX2 does NOT replace the Sony FX3! And I don’t know if this FX2 makes it even less likely to see a new A7sIV in the near future.

At the end of May, Sony will announce the first E-mount full-frame camera with tilting EVF?

By end of May Sony will announce a new Full Frame E-mount camera.. A new source told me that this new Sony camera will have a tilting EVF that works like on this Lumix camera. I’m still waiting for confirmation from trusted sources about this. But it would definitely be cool if it turns out to be true!

Sony “FX3a” will be announced tomorrow…but don’t worry one more camera is coming!

Tomorrow Sony will release the new “Sony FX3a”. But to call it new is an exaggeration. Basically the LCD display is no more in production and Sony had to release this new version with a new display and charger. So this is not a real updated FX3 and a new Sony FX3II is still on track to be released within a year.

Don’t be disappointed yet, I told you a very new kind of Sony camera will be announced in late May!
